Woo hoo!

I just checked my mail and I have some awesome news!

The post I made on the Thumb Trick made it into this month's YARNIVAL over at The Purloined Letter!!

YARNIVAL is a neat little monthly round up of interesting tips, tricks, and articles about Knitting from around the Blogosphere. It's hosted by a different Blogger each month and he or she gives their own personal spin on the articles they choose.

My favorite link in this months YARNIVAL is not mine, but the link to how to use a nostepinne at Fiber Fool (scroll down to the "Perfecting Our Technique" Header)
The technique is invaluable and the blurb by this months host is positively priceless!

Go on over to YARNIVAL and check it out. I promise you will not be disappointed!

  1. Is the thumb made from "the thumb trick" roomy? I've wanted to try them because some of the mitten patterns I like have that kind of a thumb, but they don't look like they've got as much give around the base of the thumb, so I always stick with the thumb where it's built up at the base with increases.

  2. 'Roomy' really depends on how many stitches you put into it.
Many people don't like it as much as the gusset thumbs for roominess.
It depends on how many stitches you use and also on how big the base of your thumb is.

  3. Nanette over at knitting in color just did a series on mittens and gloves. And she had a couple of posts that talked briefly about thumbs.

here (she calls it the peasant thumb, this is the thumb trick) and here and here

  4. I always find that type of thumb to be so pretty, and I love your specifically laid out instructions on how to do it because of the tiny holes that sometimes occur on mittens and gloves.

I wonder if this could be done for the fingers, too... Hmmmm, sounds like I've got some 'spearaminting to do!
